Last week, we participated in the grand opening celebration for the modernized Canyon Creek Elementary School and Skyview Middle School for the Northshore School District. The event included a ribbon-cutting ceremony, student-led guided tours, and a music concert by the middle school band.
The new building adds more than 32,000 square feet with 30 classrooms for elementary use on the second floor and middle school use on the first floor. The expansion project also includes renovations and improvements to the Canyon Creek gym and the Skyview kitchen and cafeteria.
We implemented various sustainable features in the electrical design to support the district’s commitment to the environment. The use of state-of-the-art “smart lighting,” by way of Power over Ethernet (POE) lighting, coupled with tunable lighting controls, gives staff and students complete control over their desired lighting quality and allows them to personalize learning environments according to their needs. Electrical plug load management with sweeping shut-off also dramatically reduces energy use.
After the actual ribbon-cutting event was delayed for nearly three years, we were thrilled to finally celebrate the expansion of this beautiful building and recognize the successful collaboration between the design-build teams. Thank you, BLRB Architects, Cornerstone General Contractors, Inc., Northshore School District, and the entire Skyview and Canyon Creek community, for your support!
