Aprille Balangue, a seasoned professional in the field of electrical design, finds immense fulfillment in fostering strong partnerships with industry collaborators and witnessing individuals thrive within the spaces she helps create.
Originally from the Philippines, Aprille relocated to Seattle in 2007 and swiftly became a part of TFWB Engineers. With an unwavering commitment to the company, she currently holds the position of Principal. Over the course of her tenure, Aprille has spearheaded a multitude of projects in the education, multi-use, civic, and commercial sectors. With over 16 years of experience in electrical design, she possesses expertise in diverse areas, including power distribution, communications systems, audio-visual systems, fire alarm systems, security and access control systems, and architectural lighting design.
Aprille thrives on close collaboration with clients and design teams, striving to deliver holistic and sustainable solutions that integrate seamlessly. Her design philosophy centers around responsible practices, seeking to minimize the environmental impact of the built environment while promoting inclusivity and fostering meaningful connections among people.
Furthermore, Aprille serves as TFWB’s lead lighting designer, collaborating closely with architects and interior designers to create visually striking and functional illuminated spaces. She stays abreast of the latest trends and technologies in lighting design and introduces innovative concepts such as human-centric lighting, acoustic lighting, luminaire-level lighting controls (LLLC), wireless systems, and disinfection lighting.
Aprille’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the University of Baguio, Philippines. She has also earned the designation of Lighting Certified Professional through the National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions (NCQLP). Additionally, Aprille actively engages in mentorship, serving as an ACE mentor to guide students exploring the fields of architecture, construction, and engineering. She also enjoys guest lecturing for capstone students at the University of Washington, inspiring the next generation to make positive contributions to their learning environments and communities.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Aprille relishes quality time with her husband and son and actively contributes to her local community through various service endeavors.
