As principal at TFWB Engineers, Aprille Balangue has led the team on numerous educational, multi-use, civic, and other commercial projects. She has over 15 years of electrical design experience in power distribution, communications systems, audio-visual, fire alarm, security, access control, and architectural lighting design. She enjoys working closely with the client and the design team to deliver integrated solutions that are smart, sustainable, and within budget.
Aprille is the lead lighting designer for her firm and enjoys collaborating with architects and interior designers to create an illuminated environment that meets both aesthetic and functional goals. She keeps abreast of the latest trends and technologies in lighting design. She brings innovative solutions to the table, such as human-centric lighting, acoustic lighting, LLLC, wireless, and disinfection lighting systems.
Aprille holds a Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the University of Baguio, Philippines. She is a Lighting Certified Professional through the NCQLP. She has also served as an ACE mentor for students who want to explore the world of architecture, construction, and engineering. She seeks to empower students to create a positive impact in their learning environment and community. She has enjoyed being a guest lecturer for capstone students at the University of Washington. She is also an active member of A4LE and IES and has served as a judge for the IES Illumination Awards.
Aprille loves spending time with her family, serving in her community, and engaging with people. Growing up as a Filipino and an Igorot, her rich cultural heritage has greatly influenced her affinity for people of diverse backgrounds.
